The New Jeweller group organised first edition of the Heritage Jewellery Competition and Awards saw success as jewellery designers from over 10 countries showed their prowess and talent in creating intricate jewellery designs. The submissions closed on the 25th of September and went for judging. JAWHARA Group, the leading jewellery retailer and wholesaler from Dubai, UAE, is the Presenting Sponsor for the coveted competition and the said competition and award is Endorsed by the respectable ‘Dubai Design Fashion Council’. The competition and awards is Powered by GIA - The world’s foremost authority in gemology and is Supported by the respected ZAYED University.

The aim of the competition and award has been achieved and is evident in the masterpieces that the talented jewellery designers have created and showcased. Jewellery designers from various

economies have participated in the competition from: United Arab Emirates | Iran | Bahrain | Saudi Arabia | India | Sri Lanka | South Africa | Kuwait | Egypt

All the applicants have taken inspiration from the heritage jewellery designs of the Arab world and have aimed at recreating exquisite creations for the modern world.

The eminent Judging panel comprises of Ms. Laila Suhail, Chief Executive Officer of the ‘Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment’ and Vice-Chairperson of the ‘Dubai Design Fashion Council’, Mr.Tamjid Abdullah, Deputy CEO of ‘JAWHARA Jewellery Group’, Ms.Nirupa Bhatt, Managing Director, Gemological Institute of America - India & Middle East Operations and Ms.Naida Akaeva, Professor – Jewellery Design and Manufacturing at the ‘ZAYED University’.

The New Jeweller Heritage Jewellery Design Competition & Awards is a one of its kind competition that is launched to provide a unique platform for the young jewellery designers of the region to demonstrate their talent and excellence in “Jewellery Designing”. The competition gives an opportunity for all the budding and established jewellery designers to be inspired and work on ancient and Heritage Jewellery designs and blend their creations with modernity.
