Jewellery Arabia 2016, the 25th edition in the series of high profile exhibitions serving the Middle East’s luxury jewellery and watch market, was successfully held from 22 - 26 November 2016 at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre under the patronage of His Royal Highness the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa.

The five-day show attracted over 49,000 buyers from 43 countries, marking a 2% increase in attendance over the 2015 event. Overseas visitors from Saudi Arabia - the region’s single largest jewellery market - accounted for 30% of the total visitor share.

Jewellery Arabia 2016 showcased the largest display of finished jewellery, luxury timepieces, precious stones, antiques, objets d’art, jewellery packaging and technology in the Middle East.

Spanning 21,000 square meters of space at the venue in addition to specially commissioned temporary halls, the exhibition welcomed over 600 exhibitors from 30 nations.

Participants included a selection of exciting multi-national high-end brands, exclusive designers, and official group participation from 8 leading jewellery export countries including Germany, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Singapore, Thailand, Turkey and the UK.

A selection of the Middle East’s finest retailers and manufacturers, including a strong contingent from Bahrain, completed this dazzling line up.

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS

A series of special events and attractions for visitors were held over the exhibition period.

Visitors were treated to a high-end bridal fashion show and an accompanying wedding exhibition, organised by the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA).

The wedding exhibition featured 14 participants representing various five-star hotels and wedding planners. The fashion show showcased exclusive collections of the finest wedding dresses produced by some of the biggest names in the fashion industry at a local, regional and international level.

Glamour continued at the 12th Middle East Jewellery of the Year Awards at the Ritz Carlton Hotel on 21 November 2016. Held under the patronage of His Excellency Zayed R. Alzayani, the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism of the Kingdom of Bahrain, the event was hosted by MPP ME, publishers of the industry magazine title Arabian Watches and Jewellery (AWJ). A total of 15 leading industry names were recognised for their creativity and distinction in various prestigious categories.

Free gem and jewellery education opportunities were offered by the world’s foremost authority on gemmology, the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), and one of the world’s most advanced laboratories, the Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (GIT).
