Result announcement of MIJF Jewellery Design Awards 2020


To continue the vision of elevating local and international jewellery design industry towards higher standard, MIJF Jewellery Design Awards has returned in its 9th edition this year.

Amazed by the great success from the entries in previous editions, the 9th MIJF Jewellery Design Awards received more than 750 participating entries from over 26 countries around the world despite the global pandemic. With the given theme of “Nature Glory” where the designers have to use their outstanding designing skills and creativity to present their perspectives and ideas that interpret the enchanting and stunning aesthetic properties of Nature Glory for four different categories: Necklace, Earrings, Ring, and Bangle.

Nonetheless, very much MIJF’s appreciation goes to the sole persons of this event. This year, the panel of judges for MIJF Jewellery Design Awards 2020 comprises of several major industry players in global jewellery market and media industry, including , Datuk. Johnson Lim, (Chief Executive Officer of Elite Expo Sdn. Bhd. and founder of Malaysia international Jewellery Fair), Ms Noelle Khoo, (President of Jewellery Designer and Crafters Guild KL and Selangor - JDCG), Ms Claudia D’Andrea, (Operations and Education Director of GIA in Bangkok), Mr Mohd Fairus, (Design Senior Manager of Malaysia Design Development Centre- DDEC), Mr Anand Parameswaran (International Business Correspondent of The New Jeweller International Media Group), Ms Fadzlena (Managing Director of Sona Suri) and lastly, Mr Liu Chin Yip (Producer and News Anchor of local TV station RTM 2).The judging scoring was based on the main criteria of the adherence to theme and expression, creativity and originality innovativeness of design, sense of beauty and modeling as well as market appeal and practicality.

The results are as follow: The Necklace Category is won by Isha Deb (India), Ring Category won by W.A Chamal Jayaratna (Sri Lanka), winner of Earrings Category Eimile Zalubaite (Lithuania), and Deven Chang Kah Kit (Malaysia) as the winner for Bangle Category. The long awaited ‘Most Outstanding Award’ was won by the Ring Category, by W.A Chamal Jayaratna from Sri Lanka. The unique design and high popularity from the audience brought him the glorious victory. The ‘Most Outstanding Award’ was based on the votes by Facebook users and also Instagram followers.
