Botswana is known as one of the world’s largest diamond producers, according to international rankings. When it gained independence in 1966, it was one of the 25 poorest countries in the world, and today it is one of the most prosperous countries on the continent, with a very steady growth for more than 30 years.

All that was missing for Botswana was to have its own Diamond City. This will soon be a reality. Indeed, according to the agreement signed recently by the State of the African Diaspora (SOAD) and Trendymagic Investments (PTY) ltd, represented by Mr. Silas Pilar, the two parties have committed to create a smart city whose specialty will be precious stones, especially diamonds.

The Prime Minister of SOAD, Dr. Louis-Georges Tin, indicated his satisfaction: “By its stability, its transparency, its efficiency, Botswana is an example for all of Africa. That is why we are delighted to contribute to the development of the country, to create economic links with all the other diamond and gemstone producing countries in Africa.”

Mr. Pilar, the head of the company, said : « Our ancestors said ‘Don’t ask what Botswana can do for you, but rather what you can do for Botswana’. I thank God for this noble initiative that we are implementing with SOAD. »
