The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council in association with Diamond Dealers Club (DDC) is organizing the 4th edition of India Diamond Week (IDW) from January 18 - 21, 2016 at the Diamond Dealers Club at New York, USA. The earlier 3 editions of IDW were a huge success as this platform provided an opportunity for the Indian diamantaires to interact with buyers from America which fortified their trade relation further.

Commenting on the trade relation with USA, the GJEPC chairman Praveenshankar Pandya said, “USA is a significant market for our industry, and now has started showing signs of positive economic growth. Although the year 2015 had been a difficult time for the gem & jewellery industry, the only market that showed consistent performance was USA. The exports of Cut & Polished diamonds to USA accounted for US $ 6,382.80 in 2015 as compared to US $ 6,359.79 in 2014. Gold Jewellery exports to USA accounted for US $ 1,689.94 in 2015 as compared to US $ 1,390.21.”

The Council has been proactively creating opportunity for the Indian gem and jewellery manufacturer by participating in International shows and organising events focused on US markets. Apart from India Diamond Week, the Council had organised Indo-US Business Development Conference (BDC) in Chicago early 2015 which explored further business opportunities between the two partnering nations.

Over the years, India has established itself as the ultimate source for gems & jewellery trade with a total Gem & Jewellery exports worth of US$ 36.05 billion recorded in Jan-Dec 2014, out of which Exports worth US$ 7.16 billion were to the USA. The Council, every year, participates in some of the largest, glamorous and most prestigious trade events across the world. For the 12th consecutive year, GJEPC presented the India Pavilion at JCK Las Vegas, held last year in May 29th - June 1st, 2015.

India Diamond Week is a platform where significant business transactions and new connections are made by the U.S and Indian participants. This time around, along with Diamond wholesaler and dealers who are the members of DDC and trade diamonds at NY, buyers from Chicago, LA, Canada, Florida are expected to participate in the event - 80% of the buyers will be from NY and rest from the other states.
