GJEPC BRINGS INDIA’S BEST TO VICENZAORO DUBAI (VOD) 2015

The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), the apex body of gem and jewelry industry in India, in its effort to cater to the rapidly emerging Middle East Gems & Jewellery market is organizing the Indian Pavilion at this year's VicenzaOro scheduled in Dubai from the 23rd to the 26th of April 2015. The fair will provide a perfect platform for international buyers and sellers as they seek to trade top quality diamonds, gems and couture jewellery during the four-day event.

Focusing on strategic interests of Indian Gem & Jewellery products in the Middle East region, GJEPC collaborated with VOD as an associate partner for the event. Fiera di Vicenza and Dubai World Trade Centre are two leading organizations that are committed to the growth of the gems and jewellery industry which is in line with the GJEPC's vision. This partnership will help in further penetrating Middle East, an important gem & jewellery destination for India.

At VoD this year, the Indian Pavilion will showcase 98 leading Indian manufacturers & retailers spread across 136 booths, who will exhibit a vast array of diamonds, gems & jewellery developed especially for the visitors to the VoD show.

Mr. Pankaj Parekh, Vice Chairman, GJEPC, stated, "Indian Gem & Jewellery industry accounted for exports worth US$ 36 Billion in 2014 and Middle East accounts for 30% of India's Gem & Jewellery Exports, marking it the largest export destination for the industry in current times. Dubai is the largest trading center for the GCC. GJEPC is pleased to collaborate with Vicenza Oro Dubai and present Indian contingent that showcases India at its best, its expertise and proficiency in Gems & Jewellery".

GJEPC is also organizing an 'India Evening' in association with VOD on 25th April at Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Dubai. A 'by invitation only' networking evening will exclusively host buyers visiting VOD, dignitaries along with domestic and international media. GJEPC aims to create a perfect platform for nurturing business relations for Indian Exporters through India Evening.

Dubai has quickly established itself as one of the leading global centers for trade of gold, diamonds and precious stones. Dubai is the most suitable destination for trading of gems & jewellery in the Middle East region considering the Emirate's ideal location between the producing and consuming nations along the 'New Silk Route' and its unrivalled infrastructure including world-class cargo facilities, ports and airports that connect to over 220 destinations.

In 2014, India's exports of gem and jewellery accounted for US$ 36.05 billion. Total net exports to Middle East for 2014 accounted for US$11590 million in which exports of diamonds stood at US$ 1972 million; Gold jewellery exports were staggering US$ 8547 million whereas Exports of coloured gem stones accounted for US$ 7.13 million, and Silver Jewellery stood at US$ 254.74 million.

India is the world leader in production of cut and polished diamonds, emeralds and tanzanites with 14 out of 15 world’s diamonds cut and polished in India.

India’s leading exporting destinations include ME, USA and Hong Kong apart from emerging markets of S.E. Asia and Russia.
