IGI highlights importance of certification through on-site diamond laboratory at Dubai International Jewellery Week

International Gemological Institute (IGI), the world’s largest independent laboratory for testing and grading gemstones and fine jewellery will host an on-site diamond laboratory at Dubai International Jewellery Week. Visitors can receive free verbal consultations on the quality of their diamonds and diamond jewellery from IGI, who are also the Official Lab Partner for the event. To be held from 9-12th December, Dubai International Jewellery Week is one of the most anticipated events for the jewellery sector in the Middle East, and brings together jewellery retailers, boutique owners, wholesalers, and industry professionals. IGI will be present in hall number 5, booth number 510 at the World Trade Centre in Dubai.

“UAE is the leading diamond market in the Middle East, and participating in Dubai International Jewellery Week helps us to create greater awareness among traders and consumers of the importance of diamond jewellery certification. When diamonds and precious gemstones are certified, traders and consumers alike are better informed about the value-factors of their selection. Our certificates give an accurate assessment of a diamond's cut, colour, clarity and carat weight, according to strict international standards,” according to Nico D'Haemer, Managing Director, IGI Dubai.

“At the event, visitors to our on-site laboratory can receive advice on the quality of their jewellery. If they wish to do an in-depth evaluation and grading, that can be done at our laboratory in Almas Tower, Dubai Multi Commodities Centre,” he added.

IGI has its largest laboratory and education centre in the Middle East region in DMCC’s Almas Tower. The 5,000 square feet facility is the primary IGI lab in the region and employs the most state-of-the-art equipment and technology in diamond grading. The lab certifies loose diamonds, diamond jewellery and coloured stones, and also offers educational courses by the IGI School of Gemology.

At the Dubai International Jewellery Show, visitors can also get more information on the IGI School of Gemology, which offers a variety of courses: Rough Diamond Grading; Polished Diamond Grading; Coloured Stones Identification; Professional Jewellery Designing; Pearl Grading; Mounted Jewellery Grading; as well as practical seminars for retail sales professionals.
