MIJEX 2016 successfully concludes in Oman

Exhibition witnesses increased number of participants and visitors

The 7th edition of Muscat International Jewellery Exhibition (MIJEX) ran for 5 days concluded successfully at the Oman International Exhibition Centre in the city of Muscat, Oman. The show was inaugurated and launched by HE Mohsen bin Khamis al-Balushi, Advisor at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. MIJEX as the show is popularly known in the region is growing albeit volatile market situation. With increased number of booths and repetitive exhibitors from within and outside Oman, MIJEX opened a new chapter in the gems and jewellery industry for Oman.

Some of the prominent exhibitors were Salem Al Shueibi, Al Nafisa, Mawala, Taiba etc who showcased the best of design and quality products. Show stealer was “Taiba Star”, a 36.8 kg Gold ring with around 5 kg of precious stones, designed and manufactured in 21 caratage by Taiba that was displayed outside their booth. The ring has gone into the Guinness book of world records. Miniature rings of the same in various sizes were then sold during the exhibition to the customers.

Market conditions was not a deterrent for visitors as they would not miss a show of this class in the region and thousands of local and International visitors thronged the exhibition as the organiser had to increase the timing of the show by an hour everyday. Apart from buyers the show also attracts jewellery specialists, certifying companies, International media and world class jewellery designers. The New Jeweller Group was once again the Official media for the MIJEX 2016.

All eyes are set for the MIJEX 2017 show that will be organised in a brand new venue, the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre in Muscat
