Malabar Gold & Diamonds to open a new manufacturing facility in Qatar

Malabar Gold & Diamonds, one among the largest jewellery retailers globally with a strong network of over 260 outlets spread across 10 countries is scheduled to open a new manufacturing facility in Qatar by leasing an area of 3,000 sq. mts at the Birkat Al Awamer Logistic Park, Manateq Economic Zone, Qatar.

The groundbreaking ceremony of this facility was jointly done by Shiekh Hamad Nasser A A Al-Thani and Shiekh Abdulla Nasser A A Al-Thani on 5th July, in the presence of Mr. Santhosh T V - Regional Head of Malabar Gold & Diamonds, Mr. Naufal T - Zonal Head, Malabar Gold & Diamonds and Mr. A K Usman.

The new facility will be able to produce 5,000 kg of gold ornaments with high quality & finish utilizing the latest technologies like casting, CNC and CAD-CAM(3d) and will also create 200 jobs. The facility, which is scheduled to open in July 2022 will have different departments for production including CNC cutting, Chains, Anklet, Rings, Bangles, 22K & 24K coins, Kuwaiti Necklace, etc. The new facility will add diamond and other precious gems jewellery manufacturing capability which will be first of its kind in Qatar. This is in addition to the existing manufacturing unit in Qatar which started their operations in 2013 and currently has a production capacity of 1,200 kg per year and employs 50 skilled artisans.

As a testament to the group’s strong focus on sustainability, this facility will also be designed to incorporate various energy-efficient and environmentally friendly features and promoting clean energy. The factory will use advanced machinery and equipment like hydrogen generators which produce fuel from water causing zero emissions, air pollution control device which will remove toxic particles and gases from industrial exhaust streams and dry scrubbing system for removing odorous and corrosive gases from wastewater treatment plant operation.
