OROAREZZO 2023, IEG: +40% MORE VISITORS THAN IN 2022
BACK TO PRE-PANDEMIC LEVELS

• The 42nd edition of Italian Exhibition Group’s event dedicated to Made in Italy gold and jewelry manufacturing closed today
• Global attendance from 100 countries; foreign attendance representing Europe for 42%, the Middle East for 25%, the Americas and Asia for 11% each, Africa 9%
• Design and the future, the Première competition devised by Beppe Angiolini, the show’s ambassador, opened to talents from goldsmith schools in the province

The courage to change rewards the evolution of Oroarezzo 2023 with +40% attendance compared to 2022. The Italian Exhibition Group event dedicated to Made in Italy jewelry manufacturing, which this year renewed its concept with even more focus on jewelry production, came to a close today. “Shaping Jewelry Ideas” is the theme that sums up the new formula, which was combined with a new layout in the Arezzo Fiere e Congressi expo halls. Factors that, together with a leap in exports from the Arezzo district, which in 2022 recorded a growth of 19% compared to the previous year for a value of 3.2 billion euro, have rewarded the event in IEG's Jewelry & Fashion catalogue, which returned to the attendance levels of 2019.

The success of Oroarezzo 2023 is global, with visitors arriving from 100 countries; never so many in recent years. Among the geographical areas, 42% of foreign attendance represented Europe, followed by the Middle East at 25.5%, the Americas (11.3%), Asia (11%) and Africa (9.1%) . To be precise, the most represented countries for Europe were Spain, France and Romania, the United Arab Emirates, Lebanon and Turkey for the Middle East and the USA for the Americas. Buyers from the Far East returned with China, Hong Kong and Japan (5.6%), Mexico and Argentina were among the most represented countries in LATAM with almost 3%, and Central Asian countries close to 2%, with Uzbekistan the most represented.

The number of buyers doubled for this 42nd edition: 430 from 55 countries, thanks to collaboration with the Italian Trade Agency (ITA), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the work of IEG's international network of regional advisors.

OROAREZZO, THE FIVE CORNERSTONES OF EVOLUTION

The 2023 edition featured five cornerstones of change. First of all, Oroarezzo was allotted a new positioning on the gold and jewelry industry’s calendar of events and dedicated more space to gold and jewelry production and the technology segment. Visitors found a new layout that made their experience between the various exhibition sectors easier and a considerably large investment was made into the contingent of buyers, all signaled by exhibitors as important. Lastly, an ever-increasing program of content and the involvement of the younger generations with the new “Talents” category in the Première competition organized by Beppe Angiolini.

A PATH SHARED WITH STAKEHOLDERS

A change that IEG has shared and implemented together with local stakeholders: from Arezzo Fiere e Congressi, to the Arezzo-Siena Chamber of Commerce, the Municipality of Arezzo, the Province of Arezzo, the Tuscany Region, as well as the Arezzo Goldsmith Council, Confindustria Federorafi, Confartigianato, CNA, AFEMO, Assocoral and Confcommercio Federpreziosi. A collective work that has contributed to making the DNA of Oroarezzo even more distinctive within its territory and in the context of Italian industry and the framework of foreign markets of reference with manufacturing excellence and cutting-edge technology appreciated and coveted the world over. This shared effort with the players in the area led, among other things, to an event dedicated to foreign buyers: an experiential tour of the City of Gold organized in collaboration with Confguide Confcommercio Arezzo.

OROAREZZO, IN SEARCH OF NEW TALENTS

Thanks to the inventiveness of Beppe Angiolini, honorary president of the National Chamber of Fashion Buyers, Oroarezzo's ambassador and art director, the 32nd edition of the Première competition was further enriched this year with “Talents”, a new category. In a historical moment in which the Arezzo district has become the Italian export champion with about one third of national production going to foreign markets, the generational change in the industry is now crucial. In order to link the creativity and style of the goldsmith tradition in Arezzo and the Italian districts to the future of jewelry art, “Talents” extended the audience of creatives, tasked with the theme of “light”, to students from three courses at goldsmith schools within the territory: the Master in Jewelry History, Design and Marketing at Siena University, Arezzo Campus, the Margaritone Technical Institute and the Piero della Francesca State High School, both in Arezzo.
