African Diamond Manufacturers' Association' Signs MoU with AUTHENTIA to advance Traceability efforts in the global diamond industry
![]() ![]() The African Diamond Manufacturers Association (ADMA), a vested international organization that represents and unifies diamond manufacturers based in and operating within the bounds of the African continent, signed a transformative Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Authentia.io this week to advance traceability efforts the global diamond industry. The announcement comes three weeks subsequent to the “Provenance, Traceability and Technology” Forum at DMCC in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on May 16th. The Forum featured leading experts from Opsydia, Tracr, iTraceiT, Provenance Proof, Sarine Technologies, Diatech, Synova and the Gemological Institute of America. In the midst of several essential panel discussions on the sidelines of the KP Intersessional Meeting in Dubai, isolated pitch sessions were granted during the Forum for each representative of applied science, leaving inadequate time to elaborate and offer profound insight to the listening audience during the opening presentations of each proposed traceability solution. The ADMA’s deciding factors to endorse and incorporate the unprecedented Authentia platform was based on several foregoing circumstances that offered our organization adequate time to delve deeper into examining the existing layers of each presented “private” blockchain. Authentia’s four-pronged or multi-layered traceability solution offers: 1) Certificates of Origin, which empowers and markets the source mines as well as the country of origin; 2) a muchneeded “public” blockchain technology that is fully compatible with each “private” blockchains that was being presented; 3) nanotechnology and finally, 4) diamond Titles of Ownership, comparable to those applied to vehicles and property. António Oliveira, President of ADMA said: “Under careful scrutiny and assessment, Authentia’s platform has presented ADMA with the much-needed validation needed to subscribe to the advanced platform. The technical’s team’s open-minded approach with regard to what the African diamond industry truly requires is what provides this promising platform for natural diamonds and gemstones with a bona fide opportunity to thrive, survive and give prominence to provenance.” “Despite what the global diamond industry is hopelessly subsidizing, Authenia has listened to African diamond producers and has offered exactly what the African diamond industry has been demanding to expel our traceability concerns, from extraction point to the end consumer. The Authentia platform falls in line with ADMA’s enduring efforts to assist in filling the voids of the Kimberley Process (KP) diamond certification scheme in their ‘Year of Delivery’ campaign as well as provide credibility and restore confidence to the 85 KP participants.“ “Pilot programs are now underway in several African diamond producing countries and we are encouraging the most pertinent diplomatic and political international organizations to embrace our recommendations. At the same time, ADMA is also sharing our discoveries with each of the major global diamond centers as we as with the collective continental union of member states that is installed on the continent of Africa.” Bruno Scarselli, Authentia’s Founder and Managing Director said: “Authentia is prone to fulfill the dream of establishing an unambiguous trajectory within the bounds of global diamond industry, where systems of governance and foregoing diamond initiatives have failed to produce and furnish diamond producing countries with an explicit and ethical path to the consumer. Beyond a shadow of a doubt, Authentia’s preferred technological tools and rule of law will certainly prevail. Given that Authentia is a truly collaborative platform that is proving to attract and unify the most serious blockchain developers in the diamond space. Furthermore, measures of beneficiation to enhance the producing country’s economic value have also been developed within Authentia’s established framework.” The MoU sets out key areas of traceability where the both parties agree to work together to consider shared initiatives. These include incorporating the Authentia nano-tagging efforts to promote the transparency and traceability of diamond production at the manufacturing stage. |
